Mob mentality it pleases me When comes to be that life’s not fair You said your prayer But now it’s you who’s in the square This is our way This is our truth This is the day You know the game That must be played Ticket to be paid The clock that winds The stitch in time And what we find Can’t come to mind Saw all the signs Did all the crimes The mastermind Paid back in kind You built the shrine But it’s all mine Choose the winner lucky one He’s the pick the chosen son Brought in sight of everyone When the rocks begin to fly Cast the stone and crush the bone Gave the gift for he atoned What is in the big black box? There’s a slip with one coal spot Stones are mounted in their pile Town has gathered rank and file And in your defense Want it to make sense Suddenly unfair Instantly aware Cross that you bear Star you must wear

Appears a vision Ghost like precision Image mesmerizing Earth hypnotizing Ship is arising Call of the siren Ropes that then tighten Omen of danger Haunted by stranger Hollow and looming Damned and entombing Lost in the voyage Drained of the courage Reflect and sinking Conjures a thinking Land that is shallow Sea becomes fallo

I am the others Pains me my brothers I am the others What you’ll discover Under the cover Placate and smother Shrouded and shudder Six feet and under Stymie and blunder Take it and splay it Chant and you pray it Master obey it Imagined danger Threat of the stranger Babe in the manger I am the others I am the others I am the others Fight and the flight The fright in night The height of light We shoot on sight Birds of a feather Hover together Storm that we weather Flower that withers Snake as it slithers Fever and shivers Which curse is worse? Clown drives the hearse Casting the spell Time will not tell Wrong is our right We shoot on site Fight and flight The bark and bite Others, others Day and the night This is the blight We shoot on sight

Where have we been? Disputed origin Original sin Argue the kin The book was cheered But not were we reared By wise men revered Origin of man Can’t understand Come from the apes Taken new shapes The book was cheered But obelisks appeared Now it gets weird Come right in We drop again Captured within Exploit the men Claw at the skin Shark and the fin Cold war again Tethered and bound Tied to the ground Wings in the wind Gone round the bend Shark in the cage Burning the page Sin that we wage Falcon and glove Reigns from above Everyone a sinner Loser is the winner Fuel to the fire Down to the wire Reflect the spire Chiseled in stone Meat from the bone Claw at the skin Beast in a pen Hoof and the paw Submit to law Bow inshallah Aliens have landed Armies are disbanded Where will we go? We will not know Alien race We go back to space Vanish without a trace Time to begin Alien within We are not men Claw at the skin Reveal within Beneath the skin What we have been Our reign begins Crushed all the men Human domain Species profane People detained Put them in chains We’ve unmasked to men We will rule again It is our rebirth We’ve reclaimed the Earth We were hid to all Led to their downfall We’ve unmasked to men We will rule again Our reign begins We rule again

Monkey Paw 04:39
Wish number 5: keep me alive Wish number 4: breaks down the door Wish number 3: no curse on me Wish number 2: paid what is due Wish number 1: haunted by none Wish number 1: your time is done Wish number 2: we chase down you Wish number 3: prey upon thee Wish number 4: your limbs are torn Wish number 5: keep you deprived Is it luck or is it magic? Is it brave or is it tragic? Superstition or the culture? Swooping like the starving vulture Grains of sand we’re growing older An affront that becomes bolder Just a hint of native magic In a role that becomes tragic To the floor and on this lore Clip the wings on which we soar Violate the nature’s law Succumb to the monkey paw With each wish it becomes clear The elation turns to fear You negate the natural law Clinging to the monkey paw All the hopes and all the dreams Ripped apart right at the seams Looking for the easy answers Conjuring a league of cancers Violating natural law Succumb to the monkey paw Stalk all your your prey Feast on this day Breaking the wall Precede your fall Reading the palm Breaking the calm

about

After a year in South America, it became clear that my quest to record on 7 continents necessitated a return to the evil empire USA to acquire money if I were ever to get to Africa. Finally, after some months of unspeakable labor, I packed up some tracks made in the short lived basement HQ of Di Kang (the first time in this project we had any extended time in the same place) and a blank notebook purchased at a Walmart in Arkansas and showed up in Cape Town, South Africa.
I rented a room on the West Cape and set up a guerilla studio. The blasts of arctic wind get deflected by Table Mountain where Van Hunks constantly repeats his smoking duel with the devil. That causes the neighborhood to be blasted by wind. It was also summer so the occasional intense heat combined with the wind and smoking clouds made for an interesting atmosphere specific to this area of Cape Town.
Much of my time in the Green Elephant was spent in the courtyard in front of my room. It is barricaded by giant gates as the neighborhood is considered rather dangerous. Rocks held down said notebook as I filled it with scribbles as the housekeeping staff chattered in Xhosa.
The one neighbor who shared a wall with me, turned out to be a local hip hop producer and was kind enough to allow my noise at weird hours. However, once he found that I was writing something like rap lyrics, he kept insisting I must relocate to the worst neighborhood in Cape Town where I could asuradly find the inspiration to write real rap.
The result is a collection of stories, superstitions and various Me-isms that represent my interpretation of the African state of mind. All of this based on my short time on continent number 5 where I hope to return.
All music done solo, by the usual SOURCE.
